More than 900 migrant children have been forcibly separated from their parents despite a court order, the American Civil Liberties Union says.

CBS News detailed the ACLU latest claims in a report Tuesday.

According to the network news, an ACLU court filing in the U.S. District of Southern California says the children have been taken from their parents since Judge Dana Sabraw ordered the government to stop its "zero tolerance" policy in June 2018. The ACLU is representing a group of migrant families in the case.

They say the administration is in violation of Sabraw's ruling and asked the court to hold a hearing "as soon as possible."

The ACLU announced its action in a tweet:

"BREAKING: Today we filed a motion to block the Trump administration from continuing to separate families at the border. More than 900 parents and children — including babies — have been separated since the court blocked the cruel policy over a year ago."

The court filing stated: "The government is systematically separating large numbers of families based on minor criminal history, highly dubious allegations of unfitness, and errors in identifying bona fide parent child relationships."

In one case cited by the ACLU, a sick 1-year-old girl was separated from her father. Customs and Border Protection determined the father was "neglectful" because he waited until she woke up to change her diaper.
