Gallup: Obamacare Approval Drops to 50 Percent

Approval for Obamacare has dropped 5 points since April to 50 percent, but favorability still remains higher than at any point prior to 2017, according to the latest Gallup poll.

Approval ratings for the Affordable Care Act were at 55 percent in April and 53 percent in July, according to Gallup.

Just 42 percent approved of Obamacare at the time of the 2016 election, Gallup reports.

Other results, according to Gallup's survey:

  • 44 percent disapprove of the ACA; up 3 points since April.
  • Just 11 percent of Republicans approve, but it's up 4 points since 2016.
  • 50 percent of Independents approve, up 10 points since 2016.
  • 28 percent of those who approve want it changed significantly.
  • 29 percent of those who disapprove want it repealed and replaced.

Results for this Gallup poll are based on telephone interviews conducted Nov. 2-8 with a random sample of 1,028 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. For results based on the total sample of national adults, the margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
