Chris Vlasto, ABC News' senior producer for investigative reporting, was reprimanded Wednesday by the network for sharing proprietary exit polling data with Donald Trump's presidential campaign on Election night, Politico reports.
Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie revealed the information in their new book, "Let Trump Be Trump."
"Vlasto had the early exit numbers that the consortium of news networks — the Associated Press, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and NBC News — had collected," Lewandowski and Bossie wrote. "The consortium followed eleven battleground states, including Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Trump was down in eight of the eleven states by five to eight points. The news was devastating. A kill shot."
Vlasto, at the time the executive producer of "Good Morning America," also sent an email to Bossie with exit poll data Bossie had requested.
The data was being shared within a group of the Associated Press and the major TV networks.
Vlasto after the election had been under consideration to serve as a senior communications aide for Trump, but removed himself from consideration after Politico reported he had been holding discussions with Trump's transition team.
Bossie and Vlasto have known each other for decades.
