Former Vice President Joe Biden remains undecided on a 2020 Democratic presidential campaign against President Donald Trump, but he told USA Today on Wednesday, "tell Trump he should hang on" as Biden predicts Democrats will retake Congress.
"I am not a candidate at this point," Biden told the paper and responded to President Trump's op-ed declaration the "centrist Democratic Party is dead," Biden told USA Today: "Tell Trump he should hang on."
For now, Biden is focused on the November midterms for Democrats looking to regain control of the House and Senate from the GOP.
"I predict to you that the Democrats will win 40 seats in the House," Biden told USA Today. "I also think there is a better than even chance we win the Senate."
Biden would be 78 years old if he were to win the White House in 2020. Former President Barack Obama's running mate declined to run in 2016 after his son Beau's death from brain cancer at age 46.
Biden has previously considered January as a deadline to announce a potential campaign, according to the report.
