Those who are handicapping the U.S. Senate primary in Pennsylvania aren’t even getting the names of the candidates right.
It isn’t so much that Dr. Mehmet Oz, Kathy Barnette, and David McCormick are running atop the closely-bunched field.
Those aren’t the candidates. Those are the proxies!
In Pennsylvania we are really seeing a three-way battle for control of the U.S. Senate among Donald Trump, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer D-N.Y.
They all understand Pennsylvania is key for control of not only the Senate, but perhaps the presidency in 2024.
Dr. Oz is the candidate Trump has endorsed and strongly supporting.
Trump has known Oz for a very long time.
Trump knows that Oz is a real conservative, even if he occasionally covered topics on his TV show that may have strayed from that view.
In Oz, Trump sees the same kind of outsider perspective he holds, as well as an impressive record of non-political achievement.
Trump also values Oz’s political independence, a necessary trait to cleaning up the swamp.
Opposing him is David McCormick, a businessman with strong ties to the swamp and Mitch McConnell.
Majority Leader McConnell wants to run the Senate and doesn’t want Trump supporters blocking him.
In Pennsylvania, McConnell is backing McCormick, who made his hedge fund fortune doing massive business with China.
McCormick really is a "Mitt Romney Republican."
Conservatives need to support Dr. Oz if they don’t want McConnell to be supreme in the GOP.
Meanwhile activist Kathy Barnette is rising in the polls.
She is a very attractive candidate.
I even hosted her on my Newsmax show "Democracy" last year. But the truth is she is the weakest in the field to win in November against a heavily funded Democratic candidate.
There are even reports that the Democrats are helping her campaign.
The liberal Pennsylvania media are pumping her up, knowing she would be the easiest for them to beat in the general election.
We simply can’t let that happen.
We need to back the strongest conservative who can win in November.
Trump knows who that candidate is. So do you and I.
His name is Dr. Mehmet Oz.
