Under Obama, Border Patrol Can't Do Its Job

Many Americans have been laboring under a false impression.
If you thought magic words were a plot device in Harry Potter books and other semi-supernatural stories, you’ve got another think coming. As far as the Obama administration is concerned magic words do exist and invoking them forces powerful institutions to bend to one’s will.
Take, for example, illegal aliens. Let’s say you’re a tattooed MS-13 gang-banger who wants to come to the U.S. to enjoy the fruits of El Norte and a larger customer base for your activities. The chance of you getting a green card is nonexistent and with your criminal record, the same goes for citizenship.
But you have an advantage, because you know the magic words.
You make your way north and cross the border. Instead of dodging the Border Patrol you seek out the nearest officer and as he starts to talk about deportation, you interrupt with the magic words. You declare you’re seeking asylum because of a credible fear of harm back home. It can even be fear of harm from competing gangs or the police.
Presto, you metamorphose from potentially criminal illegal alien to beleaguered refugee yearning to be free from fear. Plus you get to stay in the U.S.
Citizens also have a set of magic words thanks to Obama and his appointees on the National Labor Relations Board.
The Associated Press reports that a Hooters employee who loudly cursed out her colleagues and boss in front of customers had to be rehired. And a Starbucks employee who told his boss to “go [expletive] yourself” also had to be rehired.
Why? Because the employees said they were union supporters and were fired as retaliation. The fact that neither Starbucks nor Hooters has an employee union and the employees weren’t engaged in organizing activities makes no difference. The NLRB isn’t dealing in reality, it’s dealing in magic words.
And to prove just how powerful those words are, the NLRB forced Hooters to put up a sign in California that read: “WE WILL NOT maintain or enforce a provision in our Employee Handbook that prohibits employees from being disrespectful to the Company, other employees, customers, partners, and competitors, posting no offensive language or pictures and no negative comments about the Company or coworkers of the Company.”
Which means it will practically be impossible to fire a Hooters employee for anything that’s not an arrestable offense as long as they invoke the magic words.
Thanks to the Obama administration, the Border Patrol can’t manage the border and California employers can’t manage employees. But that’s what happens when you have an administration that believes in magic.
