Forgetting San Bernardino, Sanctuary SF Severs Ties With Feds

Most of us believe San Bernardino to be a city in southern California, but to the politicians in San Francisco it’s on another planet.

Here on planet earth when the name San Bernardino is mentioned, most of us recall the 2015 Christmas Party attack where an Islamic terrorist couple killed 14 people and wounded another 22 while shouting "Allahu Akbar!"

But evidently memories are short for leftist San Francisco politicians, because they’ve just decided to end the San Francisco Police Department’s participation in the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force because The Washington Post says "civil liberties advocates and the Muslim community" object.

Evidently timid politicians there would rather prevent an imaginary roundup of "immigrants and religious minorities" by Trumpista fascists than gather intelligence that might prevent a very real terrorist attack.

Naturally, the real bone of contention is San Francisco’s sancturary city status.

It’s more important to be an active member of a conspiracy to subvert federal law than it is to protect the homeland.

James McJunkin, who once led the second-largest Joint Terrorism Task Force in the U.S. commented, "It’s cutting off your left hand to spite your right hand. It makes no sense at all. It thwarts the efforts of hundreds of men and women who go to work every day to fight terrorism."

But that doesn’t make any difference to politicians who are counting on future votes from amnestied illegals and current votes from their families. It’s better to let a terror cell operate in peace than have one illegal alien mistakenly subjected to the penalty of the law he willfully violates.

Besides, San Francisco officeholders are confident there won’t be any downside, since they intend to freeload on the work of more contentious federal investigators, "We are confident that [local, state and federal law e enforcement partners] would alert the SFPD to any known credible threat against the city," SFPD spokesperson Michael Andraychak smugly observed.

The left never learns. This politically correct blindness was a contributing factor in the San Bernardino attack, since immigration officials were expressly forbidden to access social media for the murderous couple, because it would be an invasion of privacy.

I wonder what future historians — assuming there are any — will say about this obsession with the rights of people who shouldn’t be in the country at the expense of citizens who have every right to expect public safety to be a priority?
