London's Muslim Mayor Ad Censor Raises Eyebrows

London has elected its first Muslim mayor and is now discovering Shariah may be in its future.

During the campaign some of the rhetoric warned that Sadiq Khan might be a cosmopolitan wrapping over fundamentalist Islam. In the past Khan had appeared at the same events as Western–hating imams who would be happy to have the United Kingdom as an outpost in the caliphate.

But everyone in the cultural Marxist set “knows” its professing Christians who are theocrats waiting for a chance to rule roughshod over the populace.

Khan won, and when he started criticizing Donald Trump’s immigration policy — admittedly a moving target — no one thought anything of it. But now Khan is expanding his portfolio and people are starting to notice.

As Daily Mail columnist Katie Hopkins wrote, “Muslim mayor banned ads with bikini-clad women on TFL. Stand by for adverts for burkinis.”

The genesis of the controversy (is that phrase too religious?), as reported by Fox News, is a Protein World ad on the side of a bus that had a fetching young lady nicely filling out a yellow bikini. The large headline read: “Are You Beach Body Ready?”

That was enough for Mayor Khan. He called for banning ads showing women in bikinis, claiming the ads “send a harmful message.”

"As the father of two teenage girls, I am extremely concerned about this kind of advertising which can demean people, particularly women, and make them ashamed of their bodies," Khan wrote. "It is high time it came to an end."

The fact that Khan can use saving women from “harm” as an excuse to begin what looks like the imposition of Shariah on advertising makes it all the richer.

Shariah, among other things detrimental to women, requires females to dress “modestly,” which means covering up and can include everything up to wearing a black body bag with slits for the eyes.

The tube governing body, Transport for London knows which side its bread is buttered on, so it commissioned an Advertising Steering Group to ensure all bus and subway ads “reflect London’s diversity.” As dictated by Mayor Khan.

Some wags tweeted “the mayor should also ban ads regarding erectile dysfunction and even weight loss products if he is serious about ensuring ads don't offend the general public.”

That is funny, but the policy is not. Regardless of whether or not the mayor’s motivation is Shariah one would think the mayor of the capital of the United Kingdom would have more important tasks than measuring the amount of skin displayed in a bus advert.
