Democrats see no difference between law-abiding Americans who were shown into the U.S. Capitol and wandered around like sightseers and those who forced their way in and causing damage and stealing property.
They want both thrown into jail for years. Some of them have been incarcerated vfor doing nothing more than obeying a police officer who waved them into the Capitol.
For Democrats, there is no excuse for people being in the Capitol.
As the they see things, they are no varying levels of crime, and the maximum penalty must be imposed.
But questions remain. Whetherthey commited offenses rising to a maximum-level charging document (indictment) and/or meriting sentences imposed.
If offenders are Democrats, well that 's a differnet story --- according to the left.
Then, there are steps that must be taken or Republicans should expect violence from Democrats; that will be justified.
When the Tennessee General Assembly expelled two of three Democrats who participated in a riot in the Tennessee statehouse and disrupted the legislativep process, Democrats cried "racism" because the two expelled legislators were Black.
The female legislator who wasn’t expelled was white.
It didn’t matter that the two expelled legislators took a more active role in the riot in early April or that the female legislator survived by a single vote.
"CBS News Prime Time" host John Dickerson criticized the Republicans for taking the maximum action against the legislators, an action he said would lead to violence against Republicans.
"Well, politics needs some cartilage," Dickerson said on CBS Mornings.
"It needs some give. It can't be totally brittle. So when you have a situation in here where, okay, Republican lawmakers thought these Democrats broke decorum, stepped out of line, there are a series of steps to punish.
"But when you go to the maximalist, when you kick them out, that's brittle. There's no give. When there's no give, the only way the other side gets to respond is by punching back. And so when you lose those interim steps, all you get is response and response and response.
"And that is not only — you know where that leads. Right? That leads to violence."
Dickerson is willing to admit, reluctantly, that the lawmakers broke with decorum, but he feels that their punishment was too harsh for their violation of State House rules.
Because of that, the Republicans shouldn’t be surprised if Democrats commit violent acts against them.
So, in Dickerson’s mind two wrongs do make a right, and the Republicans deserve violence against them.
Where was all that concern about those prosecuted from the Jan. 6 riot?
Where is Dickerson on record saying that the Democrats should stop going for the maximum penalty against infractions that in many cases were less than what the Tennessee legislators did?
Where is he or any Democrat on record worried about that the excessive prosecution of Republicans from Jan. 6 will result in violence against Democrats --- that they brought on themselves because they were too harsh?
While it's too much to expect the mainstream media to be fair, justice is supposed to be blind. That’s not what we’re seeing nowadays, certainly not in the instances cited above.
Lady Justice seems to be a Democrat who is only blind to the violence and injustice perpetrated by Democrats.
