The Democratic National Committee (DNC), mainstream media, and the Biden-Harris campaign have all filed the 2020 presidential election into the history books.
Biden will be the 46th president, "democracy is saved," and Democrats are singing "Happy Days Are Here Again."
But the fact remains it ain’t over.
Trump-Pence campaign lawyers claim they can prove election fraud and other acts of misconduct on a massive scale. Also, state courts, secretaries of state and election officials made eleventh hour changes to election procedures that constitutionally may only be made by state legislative bodies.
Too many people just aren’t buying it.
On NBC’s "Meet The Press" Sunday, host Chuck Todd asked Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., if he agreed with one of his GOP colleagues that the election was over.
"No, I do not," the North Dakota Republican replied. "I don't know why we are so easily offended by a president who is carrying out all his legal options."
He added, ”everybody just ought to just relax and let it play out in the legal way. We’ll be just fine."
As far as that goes, Russian leader Vladimir Putin remarked Sunday that he wasn’t ready to call it either, saying he would work with whoever comes out as the victor.
But more importantly, even those who didn’t vote for President Trump should not only be more patient with the process, but also step out of their own bubble and consider what he’s managed top accomplish while in office.
If they were to do so with an open mind, they’d realize that Trump has done more in four years than any president in modern history has done in eight.
After Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Nebr., claimed the president "flirted with white supremacists," "kisses dictators' butts," "sells out our allies," spends "like a drunken sailor," mistreats women, and trash-talks evangelicals behind their backs, Trump received support from an unlikely source.
Talk show host and founder of TheBlaze, Glenn Beck, who was far from a Trump fan early on, rushed to his defense with a list of what he’d done, as opposed to his public demeanor.
In a 14-tweet thread Beck led with Trump’s remaking of the federal court system, from an activist branch to one that adheres to the Constitution, including “one [Supreme Court justice who] just may turn out to be another Clarence Thomas.” Amy Coney Barrett?
Other accomplishments Beck observed include:
- Kicking the Islamic State nearly out of existence
- Pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal
- Authorizing the killing of Qasem Soleimani. Iran’s head of terror
- Collapsing Iran’s economy
- Brokering three Mideast peace deals
- Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem
- Meeting with the North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un ("I hated that," admitted Beck, "but I also hated the fact that no other president did anything and NK kept gaining power.")
- Forcing Europe to pay its fair share of NATO
- Getting tough with China as opposed to his predecessors (and Joe Biden)
- Being one of the most pro-life presidents in recent history
- Bringing minorities into the GOP
- Brightening a lackluster economy with unprecedented growth and record-low unemployment
- Acting decisively to "the largest pandemic in 100 years" including implementing a travel ban one day after the World Health Organization declared it a health crisis.
The Trump White House Coronavirus Task Force also implemented "Operation Warp Speed" that resulted in two 90%-plus effective vaccines.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and regulation reduction also resulted in the return of manufacturing and significant wage growth enjoyed mostly by the middle class.
The president’s efforts in the Mideast prompted three Nobel Peace Prize nominations, and his brokered peace agreements have further isolated Iran from the Arab world.
For the first time in decades the president made the United States energy independent, no longer relying on OPEC, Russia, or Venezuela for fossil fuel needs.
He withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accord and renegotiated international trade agreements.
Through it all he’s been called:
- Racist, despite having spearheaded school choice, opportunity zones, prison reform, and increasing support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
- Homophobic, despite having appointed the first openly gay person to a cabinet-level position
- Anti-Semitic, despite having a Jewish daughter, Jewish grandchildren, and being Israel’s greatest friend
- Misogynist, despite placing numerous women into positions of power
- White Supremacist, although he’s repeatedly denounced it.
Pulling off an electoral win at this point may appear improbable, but most of Trump’s accomplishments seemed impossible — before he did them.
Compare them to those of Joe Biden, who’s been called wrong on nearly every foreign policy and national security issue in his 47 years in politics — spanning 20% of our nation’s history.
It’s not over until the fat lady sings. Let’s hope her aria is both loud and triumphant.
