In 1963, a Florida Democratic congressman entered into the Congressional Record a list of 45 goals leading to the takeover of the United States by the Communist Party.

Those related to America’s decay in moral standards have already been realized. Others, calling for capitulation to and coexistence with our enemies hit a giant speed bump with President Donald Trump’s “get tough” policy toward rogue nations.

Bus several others just came into play full force within the last 12 months.

The rise of the Antifa movement relates to goal number 42, which called for the creation of “the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political or social problems.”

Antifa’s use of violence to protest conservative speakers should have prompted strong and immediate opposition across the political spectrum. But it didn’t.

“There has been nearly complete silence from Democrats regarding the violence of Antifa in Berkeley and elsewhere,” Cornell Law professor William Jacobson said. “This silence only emboldens and encourages those who seek to turn our streets into battlegrounds. Leading Democratic politicians need to go on record unconditionally rejecting and condemning Antifa.”

After months of violence, and in response to repeated requests, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi finally issued a statement condemning the group in late August.

Goal 29 goes to the heart of America’s founding principles — the Constitution. It’s a call to “Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.”

In this case it’s not just Antifa calling to abolish the First Amendment and gun-grabbing Democrats seeking to do the same to the Second.

Law professor and former U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge Richard Posner believes the Constitution is no longer relevant.

Writing for the far-left Slate, Posner said, "Eighteenth-century guys, however smart, could not foresee the culture, technology, etc., of the 21st century. Which means that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments (including the 14th), do not speak to today."

To that end, liberal jurists often refer to the Constitution as a “living document,” one that changes with the times. The late Justice Antonin Scalia, a conservative icon on the high court for nearly 30 years, rejected that notion, saying that it defeats its very purpose.

"If you somehow adopt a philosophy that the Constitution itself is not static, but rather, it morphs from age to age to say whatever it ought to say — which is probably whatever the people would want it to say — you've eliminated the whole purpose of a constitution,” he said. “And that's essentially what the 'living constitution' leaves you with."

Getting to specifics, one of Antifa’s goals, other than to impeach the current president, is to eliminate any speech that may be offensive to others, the protection of which is the very purpose of the First Amendment. Non-offensive speech doesn’t need protection.

Moving on to the Second Amendment, its relevance in 21st century America became the subject of a humor-filled Twitter debate between former CNN host Piers Morgan and business advisor Carol Roth. Morgan got destroyed.

The next stated goal, number 30, is to “Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the ‘common man.’"

Or lacking that, denounce them as racist slave holders. To that end, Alexandria, Virginia’s Christ Church, which was attended by our nation’s first president, announced that it will remove a memorial of George Washington to make the building more welcoming. A plaque honoring Civil War Gen. Robert E. Lee will also be removed.

Elsewhere, statues commemorating our founders are being toppled while, oddly enough, those dedicated to Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin and Cuban Communist revolutionary Che Guevara remain standing.

Similarly, goal 31 is to “belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the ‘big picture.’"

Throughout most of our history, immigrants arrived on our shores, learned the language, and adopted the customs with one objective — to become part of the melting pot known as America.

Immigrants today often reject that process, turning the homogenous melting pot into a salad bowl, with each individual piece distinguishable from the others. Being American has taken a back seat to diversity; identity politics prevails.

Just as Catholic universities today are at risk of losing their religious character, America itself is in danger of losing its own unique identity — its history, its culture, its very legal framework.
