On March 2, Gavin Newsom, the serially incompetent Democratic governor of California, attacked as "absolutely reckless" the Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, for revoking all SARS-CoV-2 emergency decrees.
A day later, another scientific illiterate, President Joe Biden, chimed-in by accusing, Gov. Abbott and Mississippi Republican Gov. Tate Reeves, of "Neanderthal thinking" for lifting mask mandates and abolishing indoor capacity limits for businesses.
However, Gov. Abbott wisely urged fellow Texans to voluntarily continue prophylactic measures when outside their homes, including mask wearing and social distancing
In reality, Gov. Newsom, who is facing a justifiable recall election later this year for his abominable bungling of the COVID epidemic, is, after New York’s Andrew Cuomo, the last governor whose has the real-world credibility to educate other governors about best practices.
In Nov. 2020, dystopian California suffered 26,000 deaths from all causes.
In Dec. 2020, California grim death toll had skyrocketed to 40,000 fatalities; and then went up to 42,000 in Jan. 2021, or a mindboggling 62% increase over these three months. (The Centers for Disease Control’s state death totals for Feb. 2021 won’t be fully tallied until the end of March.)
During the first 10 months of 2020, California averaged 25,000 deaths each month, and the highest total was 27,000.
By contrast, deaths from all causes in Texas rose from 23,000 in November, to 27,000 in December, and then stabilized at 27,000 in January, or a 17% increase. Texas had 29 million residents last year.
America’s total deaths rose 19%, from 294,000 in November, to 351,000 in December; and then decreased by 25,000 deaths, or 7%, to 326,000 in January. For the latest three months, America had an 11% increase in fatalities.
Thus, of the 57,000 increase in America in deaths from all causes between November and December 2020, a horrendous 14,000, or 25% occurred in Gavin Newsom’s totally dysfunctional California.
Last year, California’s population of 39 million represented only 12% of America’s 333 million people.
During the latest fully-tallied months, New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo has the second-worst fatality record among the country’s most populous states. The death toll in New York, with 19 million people, increased from 14,000 last November to 18,000 in December, and then to 20,000 in Jan. 2021, or 43%.
Florida, with 22 million residents, is America’s other mega-populated state, and is governed by the highly competent Greg DeSantis. It saw an increase in fatalities from all causes from 19,000 in November to 23,000 in December, to 24,000 in January, or 21%.
To summarize: between last November and Jan. 2021, California’s monthly death total from all causes jumped by 62%; New York’s by 43%; Florida’s 21%; Texas’s 17%; and America’s 11%.
December, January and February are traditionally the months with the highest daily death tolls, primarily due to pneumonia and influenza.
Between mid-December 2020, when the two COVID vaccines became available, and late January, the disastrous policy of Governors Newsom and Cuomo was not prioritizing residents 65 years of age and older for injection.
Seniors have accounted for 2.8 million of the 3.8 million American deaths from all causes, or 74%, between Jan. 1, 2020 and March 3, 2021.
Newsome, a typical, scientifically-illiterate, dictatorial Democrat, finally woke up in late January that the Medicare cohorts must be prioritized for vaccination.
On Jan. 25, a Los Angeles TV station reported that Newsome "said those 65 and older have accounted for 75% of COVID-19 deaths in the state, and so it’s important that the age group is prioritized for the scarce [sic] vaccine supplies."
But in a Jan. 4 Newsmax article, I documented that the death rate from COVID, for America’s four youngest cohorts under the age of 25, was a miniscule 1 per 100,000 persons.
By contrast, in the 75 to 84 years of age cohort, there were an exponentially-higher 518 deaths per 100,000.
And in the 85 years of age and older cohort, the death rate had soared higher to 1,455 per 100,000.
In a follow-up Newsmax article, I reported that, as of Jan. 13, "only 10,278,000 of the 29,380,000, or 35% of the COVID vaccine doses dispatched to the states, have been injected."
My article further provided utilization rates for: California, 26%; NY, 35%; Florida 42%; and Texas, 49%.
As of March 3, the great news is that, of the 107,029,000 vaccine doses distributed to the states, 80,540,000, or 75%, have been administered; The injection-to-distribution rates for the four mega-states are currently: California, 76%; Florida, 73%; NY, 72%; and Texas, 71%.
The other fabulous epidemiological news is that weekly deaths from all causes, after peaking at 82,000 for the week ending on Jan. 2, 2021, have inexorably declined, to an almost-fully-counted 53,000 fatalities, or a 35% drop, for the week ending on Feb. 6, 2021.
In the early 1960’s, my maternal grandmother’s doctor gave her the following advice: "Mrs. Schneiderman, don’t sit in the park with the yentas talking medicine, they don’t know what they’re talking about."
Nearly six decades later, in a historic achievement of gender equality, we now have "male medical yentas," whom no independent-thinking American should pay any attention to, as they prattle-on hysterically and hypocritically about the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic.
These male and female "Neanderthals," to quote our president, include: Gavin Newsom, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Andrew Cuomo, Gretchen Whitmer, Bill de Blasio, Nancy Pelosi, Jen Psaki, and hundreds of other A-list, scientifically-illiterate Democrats.
