It seems 2007 is becoming an annus horribilis, a horrible year for activist-actress Jane Fonda, and hypocrite extraordinaire Hillary Clinton.
A month ago, the fledgling talk-radio network GreenStone she co-founded with radicals Gloria Steinhem and Rosie O’Donnell, designed to put out left-liberal propaganda disguised as housewife-friendly discussions of issues, filed for bankrupcy.
Greenstone could find only a tiny handful of stations in already-liberal small communities willing to air any of its programs.
Fonda and her comrades were either unwilling or unable to imitate leftwing Air America Radio’s also-bankrupt approach of buying its airtime in a few larger broadcast markets.
Air America operates as a propaganda wing of the Democratic Party, bashing Republican but always promoting Democratic candidates, and gets cash from wealthy Democratic fatcats.
Air America’s best-known host, comic Al Franken, quit his talk show to seek the 2008 Democratic Senate nomination in Minnesota. (Don’t be surprised if and when MSNBC’s partisan Democratic host Chris Matthews, now in his mid-60s, announces that he is quitting to seek Democratic nomination to the U.S. Senate in his home state Pennsylvania. Matthews should renounce such partisan ambitions forever if he expects anyone to trust his NBC shows.)
But worse than GreenStone, two writers in Sept. 16’s New York Times blamed Jane Fonda for the Greenhouse Effect and global warming.
In an Op-Ed, the co-authors of Freakonomics, Stephen J. Dubner and Steven D. Levitt, suggested that Fonda’s propaganda movie "The China Syndrome," about a fictional (and absurdly unlikely) American nuclear power plant meltdown, played a key role in halting the construction of new U.S. nuclear power plants.
Nuclear power has won praise and support even from the co-founder of Greenpeace Patrick Moore because it emits zero greenhouse gases.
When Jane Fonda panicked people away from nuclear power, she redirected our economy into dependence on coal and other fossil fuels that give off lots of purportedly climate-warming greenhouse gases.
If polar bears soon drown and Florida is swallowed up by rising seas, blame Jane.
I go beyond Dubner and Levitt. By turning America away from safe, clean nuclear power and towards greater dependence on polluting fossil fuels, Jane Fonda helped create our fatal addiction to Muslim-controlled oil from Indonesia and the Middle East.
This oil addiction has prompted U.S. military interventions in the Middle East, which made the U.S. a target for Islamist terrorist Osama bin Laden, who masterminded the 9/11 attacks on America.
If you want to know who, beyond Jimmy Carter, bears a large share of responsibility for the 3,000 Americans murdered in the World Trade Center towers and elsewhere on Sept. 11, 2001, blame Jane.
If you want to understand who caused today’s ongoing U.S. military intervention in Iraq, blame Jane.
She, of course, is the daughter of actor Henry Fonda who became “Hanoi Jane” when, during the Vietnam War, she traveled to Communist North Vietnam and was photographed cheerfully manning an anti-aircraft gun used to shoot down American pilots like John McCain.
Jane Fonda returned to the United States to lead anti-war protests intended, she later claimed, to save American lives by ending the conflict in Southeast Asia.
Her husband at the time, Tom Hayden, was co-founder of the radical leftwing Students for a Democratic Society and was openly sympathetic to the communist side in Vietnam.
Fonda herself at the University of Michigan replied haughtily to a student question about Communism: “If you understood what Communism is, you’d be on your knees every night praying that America becomes Communist.”
Ironically, Red Queen Jane Fonda is also responsible for destroying millions of baby boomer knees.
As The New York Times reported last Feb. 8, a large share of the boomers who during the 1980s became aerobics enthusiasts, bouncing five days a week on hard concrete floors to Jane Fonda’s exercise tapes, are now paying the price with painful arthritis and chronic joint injuries.
“If you look at Jane Fonda’s first tape,” one therapist told Fox News five years ago, “It’s like ‘How to injure yourself to music.’”
Jane Fonda cranked out her first aerobics tape to help fund radical causes. She did so knowing no more about physiology and health than she does about politics, economics and the nightmare anti-human consequences of socialism and communism.
Because of her reckless negligence, Fonda might plausibly be held liable for millions of baby boomer knee injuries.
My question: Where is the class-action lawsuit to hold Jane Fonda responsible for the medical costs, and pain and suffering of her millions of victims?
At a minimum, where are the millions of dollars in refunds from Jane for buyers of these videotapes that were unsafe at any speed, that damaged the health and lives of those who trusted her product?
Surely someone as liberal as Jane Fonda would never try to hide behind legal technicalities, e.g., by claiming that the statute of limitations for suing her had run out. Surely thousands more have been injured in recent years by using Jumping Jane’s old tapes.
To paraphrase my friend Christopher Hitchens, Jane Fonda poisons everything she touches.
Hillary Dishes up More Hypocrisy
From the "Hilpocrisy" file, tracking Hillary Clinton’s outrageous hypocrisies: Mrs. Clinton a week ago appeared with other Democratic candidates at a debate on liberal Spanish language network Univision (formerly headed by Henry Cisneros, the disgraced former Housing and Urban Development Cabinet member in President Bill Clinton’s administration).
But as a condition of appearing, Mrs. Clinton reportedly demanded that the two of her rivals for the Democratic nomination who speak Spanish fluently — New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and Connecticut Sen. (and former Dominican Republic Peace Corps worker) Chris Dodd — be prohibited from speaking Spanish on the air.
Univision complied with Hillary’s demand and required all participants to speak only English, which was then translated for the audience by its staff.
Hillary Clinton, in other words, schemed to win Latino votes by prohibiting her rivals from speaking Spanish during a nationally-televised debate. Is this the act of someone who respects honesty or Hispanic voters?
