Tom Petty, the legendary Hall of Famer rocker whose quintet The Heartbreakers defined an era, died Monday after suffering cardiac arrest a day earlier. He was 66.

"Breakdown," "Learning to Fly," "I won't Back Down," and "American Girl" are just a few of Petty's best-known hits from a career that spanned more than 40 years. He toured up until his death, last performing on Sept. 25 at the Hollywood Bowl.
