The Mueller Investigation Is Not Coming to an End

“Klayman’s reputation is someone who doesn’t play well with others, but that is also related to one of his strengths.”

“The only consistent element is that he tends to challenge authority… In a town that is often hard right or left, he’s one of the few moving parts.”

Jonathan Turley, Professor of Law at George Washington University as quoted in a “Washington Post Magazine” Cover Story by David Montgomery “Larry Klayman Versus Everyone: Can Larry Klayman Make History With His NSA Lawsuit?” (May 9, 2014).

President Donald J. Trump’s lawyers, Rudy Giuliani and Jay Seculow, are crowing this Thanksgiving from the rooftops of whatever establishment abode they now are seeking refuge in, that the Russian collusion and obstruction of justice investigation of Special Counsel Robert Mueller is coming to an end and is essentially over. Of course, these two “legal court jesters” of the Trump White House have been making these predictions since Mueller began his “witch hunt.” But contrary to the “kool aid” that is being served up by these television lawyers who are frequently showcased on Fox News’ “Hannity” and other venues, it again is not likely that the house has fallen, Wizard of Oz style, on Mueller and his leftist prosecutorial Munchkins.

I am a veteran for lack of a better word of the "resistance" — and I am not talking about the anti-Trumpian one of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Eric Holder, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Elizabeth Warren and a host of other leftists bent on destroying his presidency. Rather, I am a “revolutionary” in the mold of our Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, who declared after our successful revolution against King George III and his tyrannical Court of St. James, that when the people fear the government, there is tyranny, but that when the government fears the people there is liberty.

After 41 years of legal practice, as a former federal prosecutor and then the founder of both Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, I have — if I do say so myself — more than a pretty good understanding of how the Washington swamp works, infested by establishment reptiles of both political parties, the media and public interest watchdogs — left and right — making money hand over fist from the scandals that have multiplied with each passing day, month and year over the last decades.

During the ten years after I came into national prominence and as the chairman and general counsel ran Judicial Watch, there were really only two investigative reporters who really understood how the swamp operated in our nation’s capital; Robert Novak and William Safire. Today, over two decades later few really comprehend the “facts of life,” and of those most don’t want to tell it straight to the American people. The reason, truth does not sell as well as fiction.

So when yesterday evening I turned on my television and heard Sean Hannity hype that the Mueller investigation is essentially over — seeming to himself take credit — and implying that President Trump is “home scot free,” I had to cringe. The same kool aid was delivered “en masse” this morning, and by this time I was ready to give back my breakfast.

You see, there is a huge industry that has grown up in the last decades that feeds off of the corruption in our nation’s capital, and pundits like Sean Hannity and Fox News generally, unlike Novak and Safire in yesteryear, financially capitalize on it. The game is not played for real, but for show — and the show must go on to rake in the proverbial self-aggrandizement and dinero.

The same is true of public interest groups, including the one which I founded before Freedom Watch. Offering false hope that they are the answer to the nation’s spiraling ills, metastasizing in a sea of corruption, they boast of their accomplishments with the documents they obtain through Freedom of Information Act requests, but then ask the compromised government to mete out justice and do the job I founded Judicial Watch to do. Of course our so called government never does, as the modus operandi in Washington D.C. is for the elite establishment to protect each other: you scratch my back and I will scratch yours all the way to the proverbial bank! So the con game goes on.

On the other hand, while I have payed a price in terms of mainstream media exposure and financially for my unbridled candor, even if I am not always right, in the words of Groucho Marx, “I would never want to be a member of a club that would have me as a member.” If I cannot say and do what I think is just and right, without having to pander to the Hannity’s and Fox News’s of the world, then I don’t want to play the game at all!

This indeed is why I founded Judicial Watch on July 29, 1994. By that time as a lawyer in private practice, I have grown disgusted at the corruption not just in government, but in the legal profession, particularly on the federal bench. If I had not conceived of and founded Judicial Watch, frankly I would have taken an exit stage right to go on and do something else.

But I am not a quitter! And, when I ran Judicial Watch we brought the same hard hitting cases that Freedom Watch, which I founded 10 years later, does today.

So this Thanksgiving, I am writing this column, feeling as if I am lying prone on a couch and psychologically assessing that state of the nation; which has hit rock bottom. And while I do not need smelling salts to invigorate me, I am sickened by the kool aid that continues to be fed to We the People by the likes of Fox News and its “entertainers” like Hannity, Giuliani and Seculow and their cohorts.

Here are the real facts of life Klayman style! Mueller’s investigation is not coming to an end, his soon to be released report will trigger the impeachment by the Pelosi-led House of Representatives of the president, and this nation will be paralyzed at least for the next two years. No amount of documents obtained by any public interest group, including my former one, will restore equal and honest justice to our body politic and save the republic.

And that is why this Thanksgiving, we all must see reality and wage a hard fought but peaceful revolution that swings for the fences and is just not calculated to get one’s face on Fox News and its ilk, jingling the change from cash registers.

Please go to www.freedomwatchusa.org to join our Justice League. We play the game for real in the mold of Thomas Jefferson, who believed that a new revolution would someday prove inevitable. The time has come again!
