JoeBiden and Kamala Harris have made good on their promise to go big' and preside over the most progressive administration in history.
Whether the consequences of these commitments will be winning issues for Democrats in the 2022 congressional midterm races is a very different story.
I’ll briefly note ten examples to help keep track of the sweeping blizzard of ''transformational'' policies that are very different than what a majority of voters likely bargained for when they sent a campaigning ''moderate'' and ''uniting'' candidate to the White House in 2020.
Safety and Security
1.) Community Security from Violence
Then-candidate Biden was conspicuously absent last summer in not condemning horrific mob scenes of burning and looting in many major Democrat-controlled cities.
Then-senator and vice presidential candidate Harris supported a free bailout program that released violent perpetrators.
Both continue to evidence no appetite to address escalating urban crime problems which will inevitably spread to suburban communities.
2.) Uncontrolled Southern Border Invasion
Reversal of Trump policies has resulted in a full-blown border crisis exemplified by children inhumanely crowded in disgusting COVID-infested facilities, their nationwide transfers, and crime cartel exploitation of a total security breakdown by human and narcotic traffickers.
Consequential child education and welfare costs, drug addiction and crime impacts will be felt far beyond border communities.
Economy and Jobs
3.) Escalating Living Costs and Debt
The Democrat-sponsored $1.9 trillion COVID relief package of which less than 10% actually goes for coronavirus benefits, or a proposed $2.3 trillion infrastructure bill of which less than 10% goes for needed transportation improvements, will astronomically increase the U.S. national debt and inevitably lead to monetary inflation coupled with higher middle class tax burdens.
Biden’s proposed nearly doubling of top capital gains taxes to 39.6% and massive corporate tax increase from 21% to 28%% will be passed along to consumers in higher prices, crush 401(k) retirement accounts, disincentivize new business startups, and send larger corporations and jobs overseas.
4.) Access to Reliable, Affordable Energy
The Democrat ''Build Back Better Plan,'' aka Green New Deal, which commenced with Biden’s executive orders to kill the Keystone XL pipeline and place a moratorium on drilling on federal land proposes to replace hydrocarbons — which provide 80% of reliable American energy by blanketing vast land areas — with costly, inefficient wind turbines and solar panels that only intermittently supply about 3%.
Say goodbye to U.S. energy independence and low fuel and home heating costs, and hello to higher food prices due to impacts on agriculture and transport industries that will disproportionately hurt those who can least afford them.
Our Nation’s Children
5.) Reopening of Schools
The Democrat pact with teachers’ unions that has shut down public school in-class teaching has deprived low COVID-risk K-12 children of quality education and normal social experiences. Such unwarranted policies are also burdening working parents with home-schooling responsibilities that again fall heaviest on low-income single-parent family wage earners.
Democrats have also fiercely fought private charter or voucher programs that enable parents to seek better learning options than are afforded to them in local public schools, an issue of concern that crosses partisan divides.
6.) Racist K-12 Curricula Indoctrination
President Biden’s Department of Education has released the text of a proposed new rule that cites and praises The New York Times’ 1619 Project, as well as critical race theory which indoctrinates impressionable young minds not only that they live in a racist society, but also that they and their parents (if white) carry that historical stain.
This neo-Marxist systemic racist mantra is the anthesis of the true American heritage which views members of shared communities as embodiments of both common and uniquely distinct strengths, challenges and priorities.
Constitutional Freedoms
7.) Free Speech Cancel Culture
America is witnessing a relentless assault on constitutionally guaranteed First Amendment free speech rights which has even allowed Twitter and other giant tech monopolists to block a sitting president — along with Parler, a fledgling competitor — from their platforms.
There is no ambiguity regarding where all major Silicon Valley companies lean politically, with most employee campaign donations going to Democratic candidates.
8.) Second Amendment Protections
President Joe Biden and his party's backers are moving rapidly to institute sweeping gun control legislation which, if enacted, would certainly not make America safer from what he characterized as an "epidemic of gun violence" in the U.S.
As Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., recently commented: "One of the things about our Constitution is that we understood early on that if you live in a dictatorship, or in places where the government runs everything, the first thing they take away from you is not just your speech, but your ability to defend yourself."
Future of the Republic
9.) Assaults on American Patriotism
The Biden administration’s newly appointed United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield stated during a speech to the National Action Network’s 2021 virtual convention regarding the U.S. position in rejoining the U.N. Human Rights Council that: "We have to acknowledge that we are an imperfect union and have been since the beginning."
Our nation’s representative added, "I’ve seen for myself how the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents and principles."
10.) Survival of Two-Party System
With current control of the presidency, House and a tie-breaking vice president vote in the Senate, Democrats are now in a position to eliminate a filibuster rule that will virtually destroy America’s two-party system. This would enable them to pass virtually any legislation they wish for many generations forward.
Included are immediate opportunities to award statehood status to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico to pack the Senate with two additionally reliable Democrat members, pack the U.S. Supreme Court with as many new liberal justices as they choose, and unconstitutionally cede control of all state voting procedures to their expanded and centralized federal government authority.
Hopefully, these repugnant assaults on our republic will be wake-up calls to arouse 2022 midterm voters in preserving cherished liberties that are under siege.
