As many thousands of undocumented Democratic voters currently rush to cross the U.S. southern border daily at the invitation of the new Biden administration, our national Capitol has been closed with razor wire-topped screens and surrounded with National Guards to protect legislators from what the Left has portrayed as a far more dangerous internal invasion threat – their conservative opposition.
Never mind that the group of about 300 unarmed thugs who disgustingly violated "our nation’s House" on January 6 in no way represented the 74 million people who voted Republican in 2020.
Nor did a subsequent proportional response to that fore-warned, yet under-secured, chaotic event warrant establishing a war zone with more than 20,000 armed American troops - twice the number in Afghanistan and Iraq combined - to guard President Biden’s January 20 inauguration.
Mainstream media hysteria ran wild with "real" and "credible" claims that pro-Trump extremists could breach the Capitol again on March 4…a frenzy that turned out to be much ado about nothing.
CNN's digital operation published a story headlined, "Feds on high alert Thursday after warnings about potential threats to US Capitol." It noted that law enforcement was on high alert following the intelligence bulletin.
Citing the bulletin, CNN said, "Some of the conspiracy theorists believe that the former President will be inaugurated on March 4."
The New York Times ran a similar story, "Capitol Police Warn of Threat on Thursday, and House Cancels the Day’s Session," reporting that "another assault on the Capitol building" could occur.
Newsweek also published a story, "March 4th Capitol Attack Fears Grow as Conspiracy Theorists Talk of Trump's Return."
Apparently, none of the dreaded red MEGA-capped Trump “terrorists” read those uber-liberal publications and put that date on their schedules.
Nevertheless, about 6,000 National Guard troops now continue to remain indefinitely, and if Democrats win the Congress in 2022, perhaps permanently.
And although more than 40 Republican lawmakers signed a letter calling on the House Speaker to remove the fence around what has come to be termed “Fort Pelosi,” the acting Capitol Police Chief, Yogananda Pittman, has requested that it remain permanent.
While all is quiet on the Eastern Front, there’s a lot more action along America’s former Southern Defense Theater where President Biden has essentially opened the U.S. border with Mexico.
Among a frenetic flurry of more than three dozen executive orders and policy directives, he ended wall construction, instituted "sanctuary" practices authorizing "catch and release" programs, and froze deportations of illegal entrants — including convicted criminals.
Border patrol agents are being overwhelmed with large waves of migrants that will only increase.
Mark Morgan, the immediate past commissioner of Customs and Border Control (CBP), reported that a staggering 4,500 people are now trying to enter the U.S. daily. Of these, about 1,000 either get away or turn back on their own, leaving border agents with a growing crisis of some 3,500 to deal with.
Once intercepted, they are fingerprinted, given immigration court summonses, and put on Greyhound buses to locations near you.
While most of these individuals don’t pose national security threats, many in fact do, as seen by the thousands of migrants arrested for previous criminal convictions in the last few years.
In addition, since CBD officials don’t test migrants for coronavirus, everyone who enters our country without medical testing poses a serious health risk of spreading existing and new strains of COVID.
Whereas Biden has pledged that not a single foot of border wall will be added under his administration, leading Democrats weren’t always so negative on the need to seal off our southern boundary.
Then-Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, along with Representative Nancy Pelosi, all voted in favor of the Secure Fence Act in 2006 which authorized approximately 700 miles of fencing between the border of the United States and Mexico.
In 2009, Chuck Schumer, D-NY, confirmed why he agreed that constructing a border wall would provide a needed and “significant barrier to illegal immigration.”
Schumer said: "[t]he American people need to know that, because of our efforts in Congress, our border is far more secure today than it was when we began debating comprehensive immigration reform in 2005. This progress includes … construction of 630 miles of border fence that create a significant barrier to illegal immigration on our southern land border."
So, why the reverse of priorities?
It appears that former President Trump was right: "[t]he Democrats don’t want to let us have strong borders, only for one reason. You know why? Because I want it."
House Speaker Pelosi and Senate Minority leader Schumer sent a letter to President Trump last June charging that a temporary 8-foot fence around the entrance to Lafayette Square following a week of intense protests and vandalism fire damage to the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church was "deeply offensive" and a “regrettable political stunt.”
The letter stated: "You have now erected heavy, semi-permanent steel fencing to wall off the Square."
They noted, "Your conversion of this unique public park in the heart of our Nation’s capital to what looks like a militarized zone denies citizens access to the park and sends the worst possible message to the American public and people around the world."
Pelosi and Schumer also said the Trump administration’s claim that extra security was needed during last summer’s period of heightened civil unrest was rationally "not sufficient," claiming that the pre-existing security measures were "adequate to protect the White House complex from terrorism and all manner of other threats."
"Tear down these walls," they concluded. "Reopen Lafayette Square, and allow the public to gather there for you and all the world to hear their voices."
Arizona Republican Rep. Andy Biggs, co-chair of the Congressional Border Security Caucus, noted this blatant hypocrisy, saying: "The same people who tell me that fences don't work on the border want to have this fence and turn the Capitol into a military compound."
Further, that hypocrisy stands as a tragic and disgraceful open and shut case of deep distrust between our government and those who we elected to protect, not to abridge, our precious American freedoms.
