Recently, Americans have witnessed their elected officials succumb to the virtue signaling of the neoliberal left and the neoconservative right.
A Ukrainian Aid package that accumulated over 40 billion dollars of taxpayers' money only saw 57 House Republicans and 11 Senate Republicans vote against the bill.
At the same time, zero Democrats in either chamber even considered voting nay.
Votes like this are expected from the Democratic Party because of their constant obsession with making every foreign or domestic policy about blaming Russia.
Still, the biggest disappointment has had to come from Republican leadership even making an effort to visit Ukraine for a fake photo opportunity to virtue signal.
Recently, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., GOP Sens. John Barrasso of Wyoming, John Cornyn of Texas, and Susan Collins of Maine, visited Ukraine to meet with the Ukrainian President and hero of the United States Democratic Party, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The meeting was highlighted by McConnell and the United States delegation to Zelenskyy's office and around the capital of Kyiv. The Ukrainian visit was one of McConnell's few trips outside of the United States. The Senate Minority Leader declared, "It is squarely in our national interest to help Ukraine achieve victory in this war and help Ukraine and other countries deter other wars of aggression before they start."
Of course, one can roll their eyes at this gesture because McConnell has supported every war intervention since his election to the national legislature.
Whether funding this war, the Iraq invasion in the early 2000s, or the conflict in Afghanistan the U.S. found itself mired in, McConnell has always promoted interventionism in American foreign policy.
These sorts of virtue signaling lies continue to plague the establishment in Washington, D.C. because they have voted to keep us in war for so long.
Additonally, McConnell and other legislators prioritize foreign relations far more than domestic. The questions aimed at most of these interventionists have to be, "When is the last time you visited the southern border?" or "What is the United States Congress going to do about the shortage of baby formula?"
These questions continue to go unanswered as McConnell wants to waste taxpayer funds so he and that delegation can fly and get a photo opportunity standing with the Ukrainian people. In contrast, drugs and illegal aliens continue to come over the border, and mothers struggle to feed their babies.
Inflation continues to overwhelmingly tax average Americans.
Thus, it's utterly shameful that the priority right now, as McConnell stated himself, continues to be that we send as much money and other aid to Ukraine as humanly possible.
Concurrently, Americans can barely afford to travel or feed their families.
There's a reason that the establishment base of the GOP finds itself challenged by America First candidates in this primary cycle. It's due to globalist politicians who could care less about American interests.
Taxpayers are lucky to have figures such as Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., Sens. Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., and Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.
Unfortunately, most GOP legislators continue to toss actual conservative values to the side.
