America Divided Against a Common Enemy: China

My earliest memories involving American leadership were of Ronald Reagan. Standing strong against the Soviet Union and the known evil ideals of communism, our 40th president was the vanguard of a virtually unified stance against our common enemy.

The solidarity reflected that of America during World War II, when the worldwide threat of the Nazi determination and the blatant attack of Japan, rallied our country together to face them head-on.

However, when the threat is not as obvious, and the enemy is a "wolf in sheep's clothing," unity fades and voluntary blinders enable support of the adversary. The resulting divide turns many against those who understand from where the threat is coming, even attacking the man leading the movement against it.

China is our adversary. They have a declared goal of global dominance, wanting to eventually displace the United States.

Ignoring it is foolish.

Denying it is treacherous.

Supporting it is treasonous.

This article could only fit a few of the examples of Americans doing exactly those things. The coronavirus pandemic has brought these unknowing or conscious pro-China actions to the surface.

Recently, Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Connecticut, voiced a belief that sounded right out of Communist China propaganda. Even though COVID-19 started in China, which shut down air travel from Wuhan to other parts of China while allowing international air travel from the same affected area, Murphy wants to put the blame elsewhere. He stated, "The reason that we're in the crisis that we are today is not because of anything that China did, is not because of anything the WHO did. It's because of what this president did."

This ignores the fact that even when President Trump closed the borders to China early on, he was attacked by the Democrats and media (redundant) as "xenophobic." They also attacked him as racist for using the term "China Virus."

These actions show a clear trend of liberal opposition to standing against China, who has been dominating us financially for many years. This economic dominance is mostly due to the imbalanced trade agreements that previous administrations negotiated using political appointees.

President Trump is a businessman who understands using leverage and knowing how to play hardball. When he started using tariffs to force China's hand, most of his opponents openly opposed them and warned of disastrous consequences for the American People. Eventually, the strategy worked out and it proved beneficial to our country.

Politicians and media are not the only body that ignore China's intent. American manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies have moved or sold plants to China in search of a higher profit. It's understandable that they have a duty to their stockholders, but in the process, they sacrificed our self-reliance and strategic availability of badly needed medicines and devices.

The current pandemic has exposed this, hopefully to encourage a reversal of those actions. This should be the focus of a public-private partnership between the businesses and the appropriate government agencies. (Defense, Homeland Security and Health & Human Services.)

Our country must reverse these pro-China trends, both incidental and purposeful.

American politicians, regardless of political party or aspirations, MUST show loyalty to America and the Constitution. The Oath of Office must be followed, or the politician removed.

American media organizations must be unbiased and report truthfully, with an American-focused eye. Imagine if there were 1940s publications stating, "Why using the term Nazi is racist" or "Bombing Japan shows FDR's Xenophobia." Freedom of the Press does not give license to mislead or propagandize.

American businesses must understand and honor their strategic and economic value to the nation, or lose any and all tax breaks or incentives.

Our country used to unite and rally against any enemy or threat. Now, due to an irrational hatred of a lawfully elected president, we are divided more than ever, not only on political issues, but of who the "good guy" really is — "U.S." or them.
