The poll with a record of among the most accurate results in 2020 forecast on Tuesday that conservative businessman Glenn Youngkin was the big front-runner for the Republican nomination for governor of Virginia.
With a virtual convention nominating a candidate this Saturday, the just-completed Trafalgar Group survey of likely convention delegates showed Youngkin with 37.7 percent of the vote for first place. He was followed by angel investor Pete Snyder with 26.2 percent.
Trafalgar also found the rest of the seven-candidate field trailing far behind. Former State House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox, a favorite of the GOP “establishment,” had 10.1 percent and State Sen. Amanda Chase of Chesterfield County, widely dubbed “Trump in High Heels” by the press for her outspoken conservatism, had 9.5 percent.
According to Trafalgar, 13.4 percent of the likely delegates backed “other candidates,” and another 3.0 per cent were undecided.
Several Old Dominion State GOP sources told Newsmax they believe Trafalgar’s figures because of the polling firm’s record. “RealClear Politics” dubbed Trafalgar as “one of the most accurate polling operations in America.”
