On Sunday, President Trump made big news with his tweets slamming Michigan Rep. Justin Amash as a “total lightweight” and “loser.”

He was responding to the much-publicized Amash conclusion after reading the redacted version of the Mueller Report that Trump “has engaged in impeachable conduct.”

Five-termer Amash’s impeachment talk has also prompted members of the Romney family to go to war on Twitter.

Over the weekend, Republican National Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel, niece of Sen. Mitt Romney, R-UT, and granddaughter of the late Michigan Gov. George Romney, tweeted back her distaste for Amash’s comments.

“It’s sad to see Congressman Amash parroting the Democrats’ talking points on Russia,” tweeted McDaniel of her fellow Michigander.

She added that “[t]he only people still fixated on the Russia collusion hoax are political foes of [Trump] hoping to defeat him in 2020 by any desperate means possible.”

McDaniel’s uncle Mitt Romney had a different opinion. In telling CNN’s Jake Tapper he disagreed with Amash’s conclusion that Trump’s conduct has met “the threshold for impeachment,” the Utah senator quickly added that Amash made “a courageous statement” about Trump and “I respect him.”
