Despite all the speculation on talk shows Thursday that FBI Director Christopher Wray would resign following release of the controversial memo by House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes, one of the most respected authorities on the FBI said that just won’t happen.

“No, Wray won’t resign over this,” Ronald Kessler, author of three much-praised books on the FBI told Newsmax. “If Republicans want to issue statements about the FBI, whether they are true or false, that does not impinge on his job as director.”

Kessler, whose "Secrets of the FBI" was a New York Times best-seller, added that the FBI director serves a set term of 10 years and is thus a different kind of government official from Cabinet members and other appointees of the president.

A former Washington Post reporter, Kessler has written 21 books on the FBI, Secret Service, CIA, and the White House. His next book, “Inside the Trump White House,” features the only interview the president has given any author writing a book on his administration. The book is scheduled for release April 3.
