When she unseated ten-year Rep. Scott Tipton in the Republican primary in Colorado’s 3rd District in June, swashbuckling conservative Lauren Boebert made big news internationally.

Boebert, 33 and a mother of four, was a real-life ''pistol-packing mama'' famed for running the Shooters Grill in Rifle, Colorado — it’s true! — where waiters and waitresses openly carry firearms.

Last fall, in a race against educator and liberal Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush (''another Bernie Sanders,'' in Boebert’s words), she rolled up a win of 53% to 47%.

''And now the fight to reopen America began with my election,'' Rep.-elect Boebert told Newsmax Wednesday, during a break in her freshman orientation as a congresswoman in Washington, D.C. ''We’re going to reignite the hopes for American exceptionalism.''

To ''re-open America'' is a cause near and dear to Boebert’s heart.  Before she won the congressional primary, the merchant re-opened her Shooters Grill  despite orders from the state to stay closed during the pandemic.

When Boebert defied a resulting cease-and-desist order from Garfield County, her food license was suspended. The feisty entrepreneur took to talk radio and soon became a local cause célèbre among conservatives.

The newly-minted lawmaker from the Centennial State wants to apply her passion for free market solutions to other major issues including energy, education and health care.

Was she supporting, we asked, repeal of ACA?

''The Affordable Care Act is a big reason the cost of health care is so high,'' she told Newsmax. ''We can bring the cost of health care down and still protect people with pre-existing conditions. We just don’t want government more involved.''

Boebert also believes dealing with illegal immigration is something she and her colleagues must grapple with — and soon.

''It’s always going to be an issue until we secure the border, period,'' she said, ''We’ve got to differentiate between those who stood in line and got here the right way and those who got through with a wink and a nod from authorities who say, 'You got here. It’s OK now.'''

Asked if she looked forward to taking on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. and the congresswomen in the decidedly leftist ''Squad,'' Boebert told us: ''I’d rather tell them my story. I grew up in a Democratic household and was always told why we needed government solutions. But I came to realize this limited your possibilities and restricted the American citizen. And I found another way. That’s what I’d like to share with [The Squad].''

The congresswoman-elect’s admiration for President Trump remains undiminished. In her words, ''I love that man.  He was a big reason I got into politics. And I liked the way he exposed how China was taking advantage of us.''

Asked how she would approach a Joe Biden in the White House, Boebert shot back: ''The results of the election aren’t final yet, are they?''
