Big Labor PAC Slams 'Minnesota Mitt'

A new website that popped up in Minnesota this week slams Republican gubernatorial hopeful and venture capitalist Scott Honour as "Minnesota Mitt."

The site is the work of the Alliance for Better Minnesota (ABM), a group funded by labor unions and the former wife of Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton.

Flashing news clips of Honour — one of several Republicans vying for nomination to take on Dayton in 2014 — and Mitt Romney, the site notes similarities in reports of their "mansions," their backgrounds as venture capitalists ("vulture capitalist" reads the legend beneath the news footage) and self-styled "turnaround specialists."

Reporting $1.7 million so far, ABM has major donations from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the nurse’s union, and the state AFL-CIO. It has received a total of $250,000 from the state teacher’s union and numerous five-figure donations from the twice-divorced Dayton's first wife Alida — the sister of West Virginia's Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller.
