The 2020 presidential and national elections are 2-plus months away. The American electorate has experienced 3 1/2 years of "Get Trump" promoted by Democrats, democratic socialists, the newsmedia, progressives, and leftists of various shades.

Middle-Americans are too busy with COVID-19 worries. COVID-19 worries include jobs, schooling for their children and day-to-day living. Those who are infected with the virus suffer other worries, very individualistic worries, yet they keep going.

The New York Times article of August 4, "D.A. Is Investigating Trump and His Company over Fraud, Filing Suggests" represents a prime example of newsmedia bias or slanting personal opinion as news.

Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., a Democrat, is the elected top state prosecutor in New York City. Mr. Vance controls the timing of his filing of court motions, subpoenas, presentations to the grand jury.

Control of a prosecutor's office can be essential in furthering a political agenda, such as socialism or democratic socialism.

Abuse of such power is likely in a jurisdiction completely controlled by one political party, such as New York City; Baltimore; Los Angeles; Minneapolis; Philadelphia; Portland, Oregon; San Francisco or Seattle.

Grand jury proceedings, either federal or state, are supposed to be secret. This is to protect the jurors and those persons whose names are placed before the grand jury, but not indicted. Mr. Vance is making his investigation of President Trump very public and timed for publicity just before a national election. Mr. Vance's investigation of President Trump has been in progress for nearly two years.

Mr. Vance's office suggested that it has been and is investigating President Trump, as well as his company for possible bank and insurance fraud. This appears to be a new investigation — noise but no action.

Mr. Vance's actions appear to resemble the infamous congressional impeachment fiasco of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's, D-Calif. — trial by newsmedia — not by law.

Meanwhile, Chicago, Illinois, experienced a busy July. Chicago recorded 105 homicides and 584 shootings. From January 1 to July 31 Chicago had 440 homicides and 2,240 people shot, including several children. Yes, children!

Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Democrat, blames President Trump for Chicago's shootings and murders. She is more concerned with the removing statutes of Christopher Columbus, because protesters say, he was responsible for genocide and exploitation of native people in the Americas. Italian Americans take exception to Lightfoot's actions. It appears nomadic anarchists'/protesters' view of Columbus means more to Mayor Lightfoot than concern for the record-breaking homicides and shootings of the city's residents.

In Louisville, Kentucky, Fernando Martinez, an owner of a restaurant serving Cuban cuisine, rebeled against a Black Lives Matter's (BLM) demand for money — an extortion shakedown. The owner characterized the BLM strong-arm demands, as "Mafia tactics," according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. Extortion is a federal offense.

Portland, Oregon, has long been a cradle for leftist and radical rioters. The year 2020 marks the year leftist anarchists and Antifa types have succeeded in over 70 straight days to have sport in Portland. The newsmedia appears to be idolizing the radical-leftist rioters as much as the Democrat-controlled Portland and Seattle officials do.

Whether the Portland or Seattle, rioters are communists, socialists, anarchists, BLMs, or just plain kids out for a good time, they have destroyed the legitimacy of Oregon's and Washington's. Democrat-controlled governments. The acts of rioting, fires, looting, destruction of property, personal injury to innocent persons is well documented — these mayors and governors disregard these crimes.

Maxine Bernstein of The Oregonian/Oregon Live wrote an article dated August 6 titled, "Community members make impassioned plea for city officials to pay attention to Portland shootings, gang violence."

The article stated Portland police recorded 15 homicides in July, the largest single month number in more than three decades. A volunteer with the city Crisis Response Team is quoted as saying, "We have a problem in Portland. We've had a gang problem for many years. For those who say there is no gang problem, shouldn't hold office ... Our babies are dying and it hurts every single day."

Also, Antifa militants rove into residential areas of Portland and assault citizens.

Who can forget Democrat Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan's June 11 statement that "We could have a Summer of Love" as Seattle was ravaged daily by street riots. Reluctantly, Mayor Durkan has walked this statement back. The Seattle riots were too violent and damaging not to be noticed.

Portland, Seattle and other Democrat-controlled cities will continue to permit riots by groups like Antifa and BLM. But, like Mr. Vance's politically-motivated litigation against President Trump, the end product will not be to their liking.
