Cancel Culture Goes Way Too Far for Some Sports Figures

The last few weeks have brought about unprecedented conversations in America, as the Woke movement has gone from canceling culture to canceling Christ.

Shaun King, outspoken BLM advocate and leader, made a call to his supporters to remove all images of  "white Jesus," just as he had lead the call for the removal of other statues across America.

Though I understand his historical reference and I agree that images of a white, blue eyed European Jesus are far from the realities of the biblical text, calling for the destruction of property and vandalism is crossing the line.

Trying to force religious establishments to submit to the cancel culture is an alarming trend that should concern everyone. Mr. King may not be aware that the Bible teaches us that we must love our neighbor as ourselves, that God made us all in his image, so we are all free to see Jesus as being of whatever pigmentation we prefer. The Jesus photos in my house happen to be black and I would stand against anyone who dared to come try and remove them.

Things continue to heat up. Don Lemon, the popular CNN anchor made it a point to deny the realities of Christianity when he explained to his viewers that Jesus Christ was in fact a sinner just like the rest of us.

This act of public blasphemy sent shockwaves of disgust throughout the nation.

Lemon had previously battled with actor Terry Crews as he tried to support the ideology that Black Lives Matter only focuses on police brutality, a justification exposing the hypocrisy of the BLM movement.

These comments seemed to have awakened the sleeping giants of the sports world.

Legendary NFL Hall of Fame Coach Tony Dungy took a strong stance against Lemon's comments with a Tweet calling out the CNN anchor's blasphemy.

Days earlier, popular ESPN commentator and NFL great Marcellus Wiley took a strong stand against Black Lives Matter, as he thoroughly explained the organization's mission statement which makes it clear that BLM stands against the traditional family structure as supported by biblical principles.

NFL Great Running Back Larry Johnson has become very outspoken as he publishes daily content highlighting the Woke culture's antiChrist philosophies.

Lebron James, who has traditionally been the epitome of convenient social justice, has taken his own stand regarding the NBA’s latest social justice initiative which calls for players to replace their names with social justice issues they care about.

Though King James supports his colleagues, he’s not participating in this latest league-wide initiative. Now, sports icon Charles Barkley has labeled the social justice movement happening in NBA and across pro sports as a "circus," with no real results.

This is a breath of fresh air for athletes like myself who have been targeted and "canceled" for actually choosing to work on racial disparity issues hands on, versus supporting the hypocrisy of "Woke."

Sports fans nationally can finally see many of their sports legends stand up against the cancel culture which often supports anti-Christ ideals.

This may give other Americans the confidence to publicly stand their ground in order to speak truth about how our nation is cursing itself with many of our anti-Christ legislation and protections. As supported by biblical text, a widespread sinful culture brings about pandemics, famine, unrest, and civil war to communities globally.

We can't deny that our nation has the blood of millions of sacrificed babies on our hands, wide spread culturally accepted idolatry and sensationalized sexual immortality that we celebrate through television shows, music, social media, parades, and holidays.

I understand how uncomfortable this reality can make us feel, as I too was once brainwashed to believe that we could get away with turning a blind eye to such transgressions.

As we speak, we have gang and drug wars going on in the streets of our inner cities, while we've allowed a cultural movement to isolate black America’s human rights discussion to a small segment of dirty cops.

When there are over 100 people shot in one American city over the course of the weekend, it’s time change-up the strategy in fighting the spiritual war in our streets.

And to think that our leaders have let politics keep them from protecting our tax-paying and law-abiding citizens in these communities. The fact that President Trump and most of the state and local leaders have not used all of their powers to end America's civil wars is unacceptable.

In 1955, President Dwight D. Eisenhower federalized the National Guard to integrate the schools in Little Rock Arkansas when it became clear that the state would not enforce the law.

Similarly, President John F. Kennedy federalized the National Guard in 1962 to integrate the University of Mississippi. There is no excuse for not using these same powers now to end our nation's wars resulting in the shootings of several dozen people in numerous American cities — every weekend.

As we become more aware of America’s disturbing sex-trafficking realities and widespread pedophilia, we are finally beginning to understand the complexities of the cancers within our nation's soul.

Our policies and legislation cannot continue to pardon our iniquities.

"One Nation Under God" is under attack. The church must stand up against the cultural shift that is allowing the mainstream media to speak blasphemy to the masses. Let’s hope our nation's sports icons can help wake up a culture that has succeeded at causing confusion in our great land.
