Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party has seen a marked increase in support following President Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal, The Times of Israel reports.

A poll taken just after Trump made the announcement Tuesday showed, if elections were held today, Likud would win 42 seats, almost twice as many as any other party in the Knesset, which has 120 seats. The party currently holds 30. Yesh Atid, a secular centrist party, would come second with 18, an increase from its current 11.

Another survey, which came out Wednesday evening via Hadashot TV news, showed Likud winning 35 seats if elections were held today, with Yesh Atid winning 18. It also found 62 percent of Israelis support the U.S. leaving the Iran deal, 17 were against it. Sixty-two percent are concerned war will break out, compared with 31 percent who say they are not.

According to the Times of Israel, Trump's decision to withdraw from the deal can be counted as one of Netanyahu's greatest victories in foreign policy, equal to the U.S. recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The newspaper does note polls in Israel often prove to be unreliable, given the close balance between the left and right and the high number of parties vying for a small number of seats.
