Hundreds of grateful citizens gathered for candlelight vigil for murdered police officer Gonzalo Carrasco, Jr. recently. They didn't riot. They didn't shout angrily. They remembered and honored the sacrifice of a young man who had tried to help them.

This will only be a Band-Aid on a much larger problem. These security officers will not be able to make arrests and/or carry weapons. It doesn’t sound like they will be much more than a juiced-up Neighborhood Watch. They won’t be able to do much if a crime is happening.

America has a sexual assault problem. It’s not because of police. It's a reflection of the debasement of society. Taking much needed funding and resources away from those who serve and protect us daily will do nothing but endanger communities, victims, and officers.
