We all learn from our mistakes, not just our successes. When we create a culture that’s focused on only being right, an unforgiving one strike and you’re out mentality, then no one has a chance to learn and grow. We’ll end up with a bland sameness, since everyone will be too fearful of offending.

Ultimately, what Nordstrom is encouraging is an unappealing form of class appropriation; it’s not so much insulting as it is stupid. You want to seem like an honest, blue collar worker? Get a job digging trenches, building homes, or serving food at a diner.

I’m not in perfect alignment with staunch feminism. I'll stick with my values, trying to be okay with being labeled as someone who enjoys his white, male privilege. It’s too bad. It’s always better to hear the cares, concerns and beliefs of the other side than to vilify them and shut down dialogue.
