Wounded Iraqi war Marines will be feted during a special "Christmas Party Dinner Cruise" on San Diego Bay on November 29.
According to Bob Zimmerman, president of We Thank Our Troops Inc. (WTOT.org), this will be the third annual Christmas cruise for what he called "some very special guests of honor” – as many as 100 wounded troops now hospitalized at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Last year, he recalled, the 3-hour cruise on San Diego Bay gave "our wounded warriors a spectacular view of downtown San Diego and Coronado Island,” adding that the event featured a gourmet dinner, entertainment, drawings for door prizes, fun and camaraderie.
Zimmerman told NewsMax that WTOT "was created because we owe our men and women who are serving and have served in the Armed Forces a debt of gratitude. The formation of WTOT provides the vehicle to help Americans make a difference in the lives of our nation’s heroes on active duty as well as military veterans.
“WTOT currently provides our troops in harm's way with ‘Care Packages’ and provides services to those who are hospitalized recovering from wounds received in the field of battle in Iraq. It is a great honor to be able to work with our U.S. Marines who were wounded in Iraq and are being treated here in San Diego, a city that shows the troops every day how much they are appreciated and loved.”
You can help honor these wounded U.S. Marines by providing door prizes, purchasing dinner for a wounded warrior on the cruise at $65 per Marine, or purchase a table for 10 for $650 or a table for four ($260).
You can also provide gifts for the gift bags each wounded warrior will receive. Some items to consider are iPods, MP3 Players, boom boxes, gift cards, sports equipment, or anything, Zimmerman said, “that a young person thinks is cool and would appreciate."
