Family members and dignitaries on Monday cut the ribbon on a new federal courthouse in Cape Girardeau, Mo., named after radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s grandfather.
Rush H. Limbaugh Sr. practiced law in Missouri for nearly 80 years before he died in 1996 at age 104. He also served as president of the Missouri Bar.
The Rush Hudson Limbaugh Sr. Federal Courthouse is a fitting tribute to the man, said his son, retired U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr.
Radio host Rush was on hand at the ribbon cutting, along with Republican Sen. Kit Bond of Missouri, Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Mo., and other federal and local officials, the Southeast Missourian’s Web site reported.
Sen. Clair McCaskill, D-Mo., sent a letter that was read during the ceremony.
The $62 million courthouse incorporates many environmentally friendly features.
