The gloves are starting to come off for potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates. One of them, ex-Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, already is going after the early frontrunner — former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney,
The Hill reports.
Santorum, who endorsed Romney in the 2008 presidential race, tells the news service that the Massachusetts healthcare reform program Romney championed while in office may doom his candidacy.
"I think it's hard to see a path for him given the 'Obamacare' issue," Santorum tells The Hill. The similarities between the law signed by Romney and the one adopted by Congress last year pose a huge problem for him, Santorum says. "It's just hard for me to see how he gets past that [in a Republican primary]."
