Gen. Myers: US Needs to Clarify Goals in Libya

By    |   Sunday, 20 March 2011 11:49 AM EDT

Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard Myers says the United States needs to clarify long-term goals in the ongoing Richard Myers,Libya,Coalition,Attacks,ObamaLibyan military intervention and President Barack Obama should articulate those objectives, Politico reports.

“I don't think we’ve heard that from any of the senior political heads of state that have been putting their forces into Libya,” Myers said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union.” “My assumption would be that Admiral Mullen and the president and the secretary of state are working this issue very hard, but we haven’t heard that articulated.

“Now the challenge is going to be, OK if you can stop them, then how do you get to the desired end state?” asked Myers, a principal military commander during the 2003 Iraq invasion.
