Security officers at Los Angeles International Airport physically removed a reporter from a press area near Air Force One Thursday as she waited to hand a letter to President Obama.
Brenda Lee, a writer for the Georgia Informer, an African-American-oriented paper, was ejected shortly before Obama arrived at the airport to leave California.
She told The Associated Press that her letter urged Obama “to take a stand for traditional marriage.”
Lee said she approached a Secret Service agent, requesting that he pass her letter on to Obama. He declined and said she should give it to a White House staffer. She refused.
"I said, 'I'll take my chances if (the president) comes by here,'" she said. "He became annoyed that I wouldn't give him the letter."
Lee said she was told to leave after objecting to the request. "I said, 'Why are you bothering me?' They escorted me outside the gate."
Security gave her permission to return after she pledged to behave, but then other security people arrived and demanded she depart, she says.
"I said, 'I'm not leaving.' They tried to drag me out." Two officers picked her up and proceeded to do just that.
Lee said she lives in Anaheim, Calif., as a Roman Catholic priestess (the Catholic Church does not have such a position).
She wrote in a Mother’s Day posting on the Informer’s Web site that “Miss California was striped [sic] of her title as Miss California when she was asked her views on same sex marriages and . . . stated that in her view marriage was between a man and a woman.”
Lee continued, “The newspapers reported the truth at first. They changed the story and said that she lost the title because she had brest [sic] implants.”
Bottom line, she wrote: “At some point the American public will realize that gays are taking over and that there is no freedom of speech for heterosexuals or Christians.”
