Mike Reagan: Protect Sect's Kids; Focus on Abusers

By    |   Wednesday, 16 April 2008 10:24 AM EDT

Talk show host and Newsmax columnist Michael Reagan, eldest son of the late President Ronald Reagan, is urging Texas law enforcement authorities to focus on the male predators at the El Dorado, polygamous breakaway Mormon sect compound and to keep the young children and women together.

"It is imperative that law enforcement authorities focus their energy on apprehension and punishment of the men living at the El Dorado compound. These rapists and predators must be punished to the fullest extent of the law," he said.

According to Reagan, "Many of these women are multigenerational survivors of abuse and incest that may have begun at early childhood. Tearing their children from them would be further damaging; these children will be scarred for life if they are torn from their mothers and siblings. We must not re-victimize these women and children.

"We as Christians have an opportunity to demonstrate genuine Christian charity and love by assisting the government and the ministries that are responding to this incredible need," Reagan advised. "We must offer our resources, manpower, and make ourselves ready to take these women and children into our loving Christian homes, to show these victims the true way."
