While President Barack Obama was quick to congratulate himself for the accomplishments of the lame-duck congressional session, most Americans apparently don’t agree. Gallup’s latest tracking poll shows that Obama’s approval rating slumped to 47 percent in the Dec. 26-28 period, soon after Obama arrived in Hawaii for his Christmas vacation, from 49 percent the previous week,
Politico reports.
The president has averaged a 46 percent approval rating since November. Obama held a press conference before the vacation, bragging about his tax cut compromise with Republicans, repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on gays and ratification of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with Russia. He called the actions “a season of progress for the American people.”
