Americans are nothing if not loyal to their elected leaders. While President Barack Obama’s approval rating has hovered below 50 percent for months, he remained the most admired man in America during 2010, according to an annual USA Today/Gallup poll,
Politico reports.
To be sure, Obama took the top spot in this month’s poll with only 22 percent support, down from 30 percent in 2009 and 32 percent in 2008.
In the current poll, former President George W. Bush placed second at 5 percent and former president Bill Clinton third with 4 percent.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tops the most admired woman list with 17 percent support, followed by 12 percent for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and 11 percent for media star/mogul Oprah Winfrey.
First lady Michelle Obama placed fourth at 5 percent, followed by Clinton’s predecessor at the State Department, Condoleezza Rice with 2 percent.
Last year, Clinton beat out Palin 16 percent to 15 percent. This is Clinton’s ninth consecutive year atop the list.
