Three key battleground states have moved from undecided into Democratic territory, landing Barack Obama with 273 electoral votes — three more than the requisite 270 for election.
Republican John McCain trails with 163 electoral votes.
Obama currently leads in Pennsylvania, which has 21 electoral votes; Virginia, which has 13 electoral votes; and New Mexico, which has five electoral votes.
Eight states are still up for grabs: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Ohio. The combined total of these “purple” states is 102. However, Obama has a slight lead in five of these and McCain in two, with one tied.
Polling in the 11 states was conducted online, from Oct. 9-13. The sample size ranged from 1,231 likely voters in Florida, to 450 likely voters in Indiana, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points and 4.7 percentage points, respectively.
