Obama: My Lead Almost Insurmountable

By    |   Wednesday, 05 March 2008 04:26 PM EST

Despite his loses in the Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island primaries, Barack Obama still believes he has an almost “insurmountable” lead over Hillary Clinton and will win the Democratic nomination.

“Understand what happened last night — the pledged delegate count barely changed,” Obama said on CBS’ “The Early Show” Wednesday morning.

“We still have what is close to an insurmountable lead in terms of winning pledged delegates and we’re very confident about where we are going to be and we then can win the nomination and end up winning the general election.”

Obama has an overall lead of 101 delegates following the Tuesday primaries, according to The Associated Press.

His campaign manager, David Plouffe, had predicted on Friday that there would not be a major delegate swing for either candidate in Tuesday’s elections.
