Republicans in the House can begin the huge move needed to take the nation on a productive path by passing repeal of Obamacare, says Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform and a Newsmax contributor. “Republicans can telegraph how they would govern with a true majority by passing transparent legislation in the House,” he writes
on Politico.
“Repealing ‘Obamacare, is step one. Obama’s veto or the Democrat Senate’s filibuster will remind Americans that they only got part of the job done on Nov. 2, 2010.”
Norquist sees the current lay of the political land like this: “Obama lost his rubber stamp in the House and Senate. He retains the veto. Republicans can stop further damage to the economy by refusing to enact more big government spending programs. They can stop funding the recent explosion of new and additional spending that flooded the budget from 2007 to 2010. But they cannot make a U-turn on the road to serfdom until they win 60 votes in the Senate and the presidency.”
