Confronting the issue of his age head-on, John McCain's campaign will gather the Republican senator's doctors in May to address any health concerns the public may have about him.
According to the New York Daily News, McCain takes only three medicines with any regularity: baby aspirin, to prevent heart attacks; Vytorin for cholesterol; and Claritin for allergies.
"It only takes one day on the road with John McCain to know that what doctors say about his health is absolutely true," said McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds. "He's in excellent shape."
But McCain will be 72 on Election Day, which would make him the oldest president to take office if he wins in November. McCain is a cancer survivor who also suffered numerous injuries as a Navy pilot in the Vietnam War.
According to a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, 27% of likely voters said McCain's age makes them "less enthusiastic" about his candidacy.
