Top radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has responded to Hillary Clinton’s quip that he’s always had a crush on her, saying that her husband Bill once “hit on” Rush’s date.
When Hillary appeared on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos" in Indianapolis on Sunday, Stephanopoulos pointed out that Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos” has encouraged Republicans to vote for Clinton in state primaries, in an effort to divide the Democratic Party before the general election.
“He’s always had a crush on me,” Hillary said jokingly.
On Monday, Limbaugh told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum: “I understand now why Bill Clinton hit on my date about a year ago.”
Rush said he was at a New York club “minding my own business and Bill Clinton came in, and the short version is, he used the mayor of Los Angeles to distract me while hitting on my date, so I figured he must think it true too.”
When MacCallum expressed skepticism, Rush went on: “He came over three or four times. He had [entrepreneur and Democratic fundraiser] Ron Burkle with him and the mayor of Los Angeles . . . He [the mayor] was going on and on about how he loved me and had to talk to me and after about a minute of talking to the mayor of Los Angeles I glanced to my left and Bill Clinton’s face is three inches away from my date.
“So now Hillary says I have a crush on her. This is obviously something the Clintons thought for some time in their household.”
Limbaugh also predicted that Operation Chaos would be a success in Tuesday’s Indiana and North Carolina primaries. He said he is still urging listeners to vote for Hillary, and observed that she now seems to have the “momentum.”
