Huckabee Keeps Christ in Christmas Ad

Monday, 17 December 2007 11:40 PM EST

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee starts airing a new TV ad on Tuesday that focuses on the true meaning of Christmas.

The ad -- which is to air in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina -- features the former Arkansas governor in front of a Christmas tree and wearing a red sweater. Huckabee tells viewers that they probably are just "about worn out from all the (campaign) television commercials you've been seeing."

He goes on to say that despite the barrage of political ads, "what really matters is the celebration of the birth of Christ and being with our family and our friends."

Huckabee, a former Baptist minister, concludes with "God bless, and merry Christmas" as "Silent Night" plays in the background.
