The Democratic in-fighting is heating up – Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign has sent out a mass fundraising e-mail to supporters obliquely criticizing Barack Obama for attacking her during the Democratic debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
“On that stage in Philadelphia, we saw six against one. Candidates who had pledged the politics of hope practiced the politics of pile on instead,” the e-mail states, in a reference to the title of Obama’s book “The Audacity of Hope.”
“Her opponents tried a whole host of attacks on Hillary,” the mailing continues. “She is one strong woman. She came through it well. But Hillary’s going to need your help.”
During the debate, Obama accused Clinton of “changing positions whenever it’s politically convenient,” and said Republicans are “very comfortable” with running against Hillary.
Clinton’s e-mail asserts that voters don’t want “more negative attacks,” and says “now is the time to show her you are right there with her” by contributing to her campaign.
