Hillary Would Send Gen. Powell on World PR Tour

Hillary Clinton said during a campaign stop in South Carolina that if she is elected president, she will ask former Secretary of State Colin Powell to join a diplomatic delegation to be sent overseas to restore America’s image.

“I won’t even wait until I’m inaugurated, but as soon as I’m elected I’m going to be asking distinguished Americans of both parties — people like Colin Powell, for example, and others — who can represent our country well, including someone I know very well,” she told a group of black ministers in Spartanburg, referring to her husband Bill.

“Because I want to send a message heard across the world. The era of cowboy diplomacy is over.”

Last Month Hillary said in an interview: “I think we’re going to need high-level, experienced people like [Powell] and others immediately to travel around the world to reassure countries that the aberration of this radical policy that has been followed by the president is over.”

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani has criticized Clinton’s earlier vow to form the delegation, Fox News reported. He said that until the next president takes office, President Bush is the only one who should conduct U.S. foreign policy.
