Former Florida GOP Rep. Joe
Scarborough has made quite a name for himself as the host of “Morning Joe” on MSNBC. So it’s no surprise that Republican bigwigs are trying to convince him to run against Florida’s Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson next year, as
The Hill reports.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn, head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, told The Hill Thursday he has spoken to
Scarborough twice about a run for the Senate. And, “I’d be delighted to talk to him a third time,” Cornyn said.
Cornyn pointed out that Scarborough’s name recognition is even stronger now than six years ago, when some Republican heavyweights unsuccessfully urged Scarborough to challenge Rep. Katherine Harris in the Senate GOP primary. Scarborough has worked at MSNBC for eight years.
