WASHINGTON -- A GOP leadership aide says northwest Ohio Congressman Paul Gillmor has been found dead in his Washington apartment.
The aide says the body of the 68-year-old Republican was found by staff members who went to his home after he failed to show up for work. There's no word on the cause of death.
The aide spoke on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement.
Gillmor represented Ohio's 5th District in the Bowling Green area of the state and was first elected to Congress in 1988, after squeaking through the primary with a 27-vote victory.
Earlier, he rose to president of the Ohio Senate during 22 years there.
