Clear Channel Outdoor said today that it will display FBI "Most Wanted" messages on all of its digital billboards across the country.
Clear Channel officials said in a news release that the agreement with the FBI follows the apprehension of three criminals in Philadelphia as a result of information displayed on the company's digital billboards there.
Through this agreement, the FBI will now be able to display high-security messages and high priority "hot pursuit" messages as a way to help local and national law enforcement capture suspects throughout the country.
The company's digital billboard network also has the ability to post weather conditions, Amber Alerts and other important messages in real-time data. Earlier this year, Clear Channel Outdoor posted information to drivers in the Minneapolis area, warning them about the bridge collapse of Interstate 35, a spokesperson said.
Clear Channel has digital billboards in 20 cities in the United States.
"As more digital networks are deployed across the country, they will soon be an indispensable tool for reaching the traveling public in all national as well as local emergencies and, most importantly, for Homeland Security initiatives," the company spokesperson added.
Clear Channel Outdoor operates more than 973,000 displays in more than 60 countries. In the United States alone, the company has more than 167,000 advertising displays in 49 of the top 50 markets.
