John Edwards, who recently dropped his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, has met in secret with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as he considers which former rival to support in the race for the White House.
According to Time.com, Clinton eluded reporters and traveled from Washington, D.C., to secretly meet Edwards at his home in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Thursday. Edwards is scheduled to meet there with Sen. Barack Obama on Monday. Clinton and Obama are engaged in a bitter fight for the Democratic nomination, and Edwards' support could prove to be crucial.
Edwards refused to comment on the report. Clinton and Obama's campaigns wouldn't directly address the issue, either. Obama communications director Robert Gibbs told Time: “John Edwards is a tireless voice for change and working families." Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said, “John Edwards is a champion of millions of Americans who too often are left behind and left out of our national debate.”
