Callista Gingrich: More Like Laura than Hillary

With former House Speaker Newt Gingrich likely to launch a bid for the presidency – he announced last week that he would explore a campaign – his wife Callista is poised to take center stage with him, Politico reports.

She co-signs his organization’s e-mails, produces his movies, appears with him on Fox News and reads the text for his audio books. But for all her public presence, Callista Gingrich is a very private person. She’s never been the subject of a journalistic profile according to Politico.

“She is much more in the model of a Laura Bush than a Hillary Clinton,” says David Bossie, president of the conservative group Citizens United and a longtime Gingrich ally. “She just is a strong partner like Laura Bush, was but not out in front like Hillary Clinton was.”
